ROBO-WAR
…..Challenge of machine age
Hi ROBO,
U are here in the machine age and to survive here, be the best of all .
U need to be more efficient, powerful and faster than other machines …..
After all, JO JEETA WOHI SIKANDER.

Let’s come back to the real world,
Entries for ROBO-WAR are invited from any student from across the world. The participants would be classified into 2 categories - India and Rest of the World. The
winning teams from both the categories combined would receive prizes.

War Requirements:
Make a machine which is
1. Capable of pushing and pulling blocks
2. Can take sharp turns.
3. Capable of fighting with other machine i.e. to topple or destroy them using levers, hammers etc.
The machine fetching itself more number of points at the end of the match is declared as the winner.

Eligibility
OPEN for only Ist year and IInd year Engineering students
All students with a valid identity card of their respective institutes are eligible to participate in ROBOWAR at Technex 2005.

Team Size
A team has to be of min three and maximum five students

Machine Specifications
The machine should fit within a box of dimensions (20x20x20) cm at any and every given point of the game. The external device which is used to control the machine manually is not included in the size constraint.
All the machines can be autonomous or they can have some wireless control or can use wires directly to control.
The machine must use only mechanical power or mechanical power converted from a source of electrical energy. Chemicals, compressed gas and rockets, fuels, combustion power methods are strictly prohibited.
The machine may have onboard source of power. External source of power is also allowed. The total of the rated voltages of the onboard batteries should not exceed 36 Volt. This will be checked before the game starts.

Motor specifications:
At maximum 3 DC motors are allowed out of which only 2 are allowed to drive the machine (on wheels).

Maximum Ratings of Motor:
Current Drawn: At max. 1000mA at starting and 500mA during operation.
Voltage: At max. 12 Volts.
Power Rating at max. 12Watt.

General Rules
The organizers will not provide any system like microprocessor kits, computers etc. at the venue.
The organizers reserve all rights to change any or all of the above rules as they deem fit.
The decision of the judges and the organizers will be final and binding.
The whole game is based on points fetched in the specified time.

War Rules:
Participants are not allowed to pull their machines with the help of wires used for controlling the machines. This will result in penalties of 25% points in points scored in that phase.
Participants have to handover their machines to the judges in time intervals between phases.
Participants are not allowed to repair their machine without the permission of judges in time intervals between phases.

Machine Names: Every team has to give a name to its machine
Name should be matching with this challenge of machine age.

Game Description

There are three phases in this game, in which participating machines have to collect points to win the challenge.
PHASE 1
Time: _______
Arena:
Arena is a square of dimensions 2 m X 2 m. At a time 4 machines will participate in this arena.
There are four regions (A, B, C, D) in this arena .Each machine will be given a region. A machine CAN’T enter in others region. PENALTY for this is 10 points.
There is a pit (at corner) in each region provided to each machine where it will collect blocks.
There is common region for all machines in center, where blocks will be distributed in symmetry with center, all machine are allowed to move in this region.
Blocks are in 3 types ,marks for pushing blocks into respective PITs are
RED BLOCK - 25 pts
GREEN BLOCK - 15 pts
WHITE BLOCK - 10 pts
Blocks will be cubes of wood with edge 6cm.
Common circle will be of 1m. in diameter.

Rules:
Before the game starts, machines will be put in their allocated region by the organizers.
With the game start, machine will enter into common area to collect blocks
Machines have to push the blocks into their respective PITS (A, B, C, D) to gain points.
Machines are allowed to fight for blocks with higher points
Machine should clear any block in its region first before going into the common circle.
If blocks are finished in the common circle than the machine can go in other region to get block from other machines.
Participants are not allowed to touch their machines during the phase is going on, IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
Fouls/Penalties:
A machine can’t enter in others region until blocks are present in common circle, penalty for this is 10 points.
Block collected MUST be completely inside the black boundaries of pits otherwise only half of the points (integer) corresponding to that block will be provided.

PHASE 2
This phase judges capability of machine to take sharp turns & tracing paths
Time: _______

Arena:
There are some TT and Tennis balls which are kept on a straight line as shown above.
In this phase machine has to follow path as shown in the figure by curved black line with arrows.
Distance between two consecutive Tennis balls is 50cm. and between a Tennis ball and red TT ball is 7cm.
Bonus zone: This zone is OPTIONAL for gaining extra points. Distance between yellow and orange ball is 25cm. and between Tennis and yellow TT ball is again 7cm.
Rules:
All machines will participate in this phase one by one. Order will not be changed in any case.
Machine has to follow path as shown in the figure by curved black line with arrows.
Points are awarded as follows
On crossing each Red Line between two consecutive Tennis Balls 50 points will be awarded.
For displacing the RED TT Ball while crossing Red line 50 points are awarded.
For displacing Green Ball each time 70 points will be deducted
Bonus Zone (OPTIONAL): Participants within given time can try for the bonus zone in which points are as follows
For crossing Red Line 50 points will be given in all cases.
For displacing Yellow TT Ball 100 points will be awarded.
For displacing Orange TT Ball 75 points will be deducted.
THERE IS DISQUALIFICATION FROM THIS PHASE FOR MOVING STRAIGHT AND DISPLACING BALLS i.e. not to follow the path as shown in the figure by curved black line with arrows.

PHASE 3
Enjoy a WAR, there is a arena in which machines has to fight

Arena:
The outer dimension of the Arena will be 1.8m.x 1.8m.
The inner dimension of the Arena will be 1.2m. x1.2m.
Rules:
Aim is to throw out your enemy machine out of the arena by destroying it or pushing it out.
Points for the Phase are written as shown in figure and corresponding points will be awarded only if all the wheels of the enemy Machine are in the colored space.
In case of enemy machine lying in two colors lesser points will be awarded.
Machine thrown out will be allowed to enter the arena but not manually and fight again.
This round will last for 15 minutes.
If the enemy machine is not able to move then it is knock out and bonus 200 points will be awarded for this.
